  • Auckland is New Zealand’s largest city with a population of approximately 1.7 million people and located in the North Island on an isthmus between the Hauraki Gulf and the Tasman Sea.
  • Auckland is New Zealand’s largest commercial centre and the main international gateway, through which over 70% of all international visitors arrive.
  • The city has seen a population boom, with a current population estimated at 1.7 million, and may reach 2 million by as early as 2029 with 2.5 million by 2043.
  • It provides 37.5% of New Zealand’s GDP and 59.7% of New Zealand’s imports arrive into Auckland.
